A High court sitting at Number 1, Dogarawa Zaria, presided over by justice Kabir Dabo has remanded Abubakar Haliru in the correctional center for allegedly kidnapping his cousin.
Prosecution counsel Tanko Mohammed told the court that only the first dependent, Abubakar Haliru was in court, while his Accomplices Nuhu Ibrahim and Rashidu Ibrahim were at large.
The counsel read the charge to the dependent where he was allegedly accused of deceiving one Hajiya Binta Mohammed on August,10,2021 by asking her to accompany him to collect money from a friend at Danmagaji, But instead, the accused handed her over to kidnappers at Galadimawa village, saying the offense contravenes section 246 of penal code Law of Kaduna state.
However, the dependent pleaded not guilty to the charge and the prosecution counsel applied for a date to call witnesses.
Mohammed said the investigation into the case have been completed and they were ready for trial, stressing that they have four witnesses to call.
Counsel for the defendant, Mr. Isa Shuaibu told the court that he had a pending bail application.
The presiding judge, Justice Kabir Dabo said the court can not grant such application at this stage until after he assessed the trend of evidence and trend of the trial.
He, therefore, granted an accelerated hearing of the case and adjourned the matter to January,24 and 25 for hearing.
Dabo also directs officers of the correctional center to take the dependant to a health facility for better medical attention.
