Demise of Bashir Tofa, a vacuum Hard to Fill – Kano Civil Society forum

The Kano Civil Society Forum, the lead umbrella body of civil society organizations operating in the State, wishes to express shock and sorrow over the death of Alh. Bashir Othman Tofa, who passed away on Monday 03-01-2022 at Aminu Kano Teaching hospital

In a statement signed by the president of the Forum Ibrahim A. Waiya made available to time express Nigeria said

“We have acknowledged the contribution of Alh. Bashir Othman Tofa to the development of humanity during his lifetime, as distinguished politician of note, and successful businessman of great repute at State, national and International levels. Alh. Bashir Othman Tofa was one of the prolific writers, erudite and true nationalist, who had gotten a number of publications to his credit”

Bashir Othman Tofa, who was the Presidential candidate under the platform of NRC, in 1993, was since then in active services to humanity in the areas of educational support to vulnerable and orphans, advocating for peaceful co – existence, unity, ideals and best practices of true democracy for the betterment of citizenry and development in the country.”

It is our firm belief that the death of Alh. Bashir Othman Tofa, was indeed another great loss of the rare breed of a distinguished personality. Although he lived a fulfilled life, Nigeria is certainly in need of his services, especially at this critical time when the country is passing through enormous challenges around unity, peace, national integration and political stability

“We therefore urge His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to immortalize the deceased by naming Kano University of Science and Technology after him, as a mark of respect and recognition of his enormous contributions to Kano and Nigeria during his lifetime. Alh. Bashir Othman Tofa, died in active service to humanity as philanthropist, advocate for national unity and political emancipation of the downtrodden “

We therefore pray to Almighty Allah to grant his soul infinite mercy, eternal peace and rest and grant him Jannatul-Firdaus, and provide for the family, friends and associates, as well as the good people of Kano the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
