The Kano State Road Transport Agency(KAROTA) said it has employed 1,000 staff in 2021.
The Managing Director of the Agency, Hon. Baffa Babba- Dan’agundi stated this while briefing newsmen at the Agency’s conference hall on Friday in Kano.
According to him,”the state government has employed 700 permanent staff, 300 temporary staff into the agency.
“We will continue traffic control at junctions to reduce rate of accidents on the road.
“In 2022, the Agency will work hard to ease congestion and construct new road mark since many of them are disappearing”,he said.
Babba-Dan’agundi has collaborated with Kano Road Maintenance Agency (KARMA), to repair roads along Kano-Daura road so as to reduce accidents.
He further explained that repairs on road barriers damaged by trucks that enters unauthorized areas within the state has commenced.
“The Agency will put double yellow line on one way, these roads include Race Course, Iyaka roads, Yan’dutse among others to curtail crossing of roads in the area.
“We will also collaborate with FRSC to enforce speed limit on motorists to curtail overspeeding”,he added.
The Managing Director urge commercial tricycle riders to register their permit which now costs N18,000 for first timers as against N100,000 flat rate before now while renewal is N8,000.
“This will help track those who copy other tricycle number to commit crime in the state.
He disclosed that KAROTA personnel had also arrested those who steal phones and other valuables from passengers.
Babba-Dan’agundi urged general public to watchout for any foul play in their area and gave emergency number as 08091626747 to register his or her complain.
