The Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers Council, Mr Emmanuel Jime, has expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded on the construction of Dala Inland Dry Port, Zawaciki, Kano.
Jime stated this during an inspection visit to the port on Saturday in Kano.
“I am impressed with the pace and progress of construction work on this project which is 80 per cent.
“We have a coordinating team set up Shippers council that reports to us progress on weekly bases.
“As at last report, the level of completion of the dry port is 80 percent. The final assessment of the project will be done at the end of the month when we will come with the minister as a team,” he explained.
Abubakar Bawuro, chairman, Dala IDP, said everything had been put in place to ensure the speedy completion, viability and use of the dry port.
He noted that the project would lead to economic development not only for Kano and its neighbouring states.
Also speaking, Alhaji Ahmed Rabiu, Managing Director of Dala Inland Dry Port, assured that the port would be delivered in a few weeks.
”It is feasible to commence operation at the Dala Inland Dry Port within the next couple of weeks.
“We assure you that on March 31, this place will be ready and it will just wait for the Minister to do the last bit which is to declare it as a port of origin and destination, “Rabiu said.
