The Ecological Fund Office has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the Construction of Effluent discharge treatment plants at Sharada, Challawa, and Bompai industrial estates in kano.
The project engineer Ecological Fund office Engineer Aliyu Mohammed stated this during an inspection tour of the sites of the project in kano.
He said the federal government embarked on the project after receiving a series of complaints from the kano state government, the emirate council, and members of the affected communities on the negative effects of Effluent discharge from industries.
“A lot of complaints were received from the kano emirate, host communities, and the stakeholders, that was the reason behind this gigantic project, the project is under the Ecological fund office, under the office of the secretary to the federal government.
“
Engineer Aliyu Mohammed noted that the quality of the project was acceptable, and it has reached over ninety percent completion, saying soon the first phase of the project would be ready for commissioning.
Nasiru Sa’idu and Nura Bashir Galadanci we’re senior officials of two different companies in the Challawa industrial area in Kano, they said the project would go a long way in addressing the challenge of effluent discharge by industries in the area.
” The project is timely because it will curtail all the environmental hazard caused by the effluent discharged, even though we have primary treatment plants in our companies, but with this development, the discharged has been underground ground through the pipes and directly direct to the effluent treatment plants where all the hazardous chemicals would be removed before releasing the water”
the appealed to the federal government to expedite action in ensuring that the project was been completed according to Schedule.
Radio Nigeria recalled that during a visit by the permanent secretary ecological fund off.ice Dr. Habiba Lawal two years ago, reiterated that the project will be completed According to the Schedule.
