The executive chairman, Kano Municipal Council, Comrade Faizu Alfindiki on Wednesday distributed food items, and cash to 16 designated feeding centres within the metropolis.
Items distributed includes, 160 bags of rice, 48 bags of sugar, 32 bags of beans, 80 jerry cans of vegetable oil, 16 bags of dates, 80 carton of macaroni, 32 jerry cans of red oils, 32 bags of flours, and N1.6m cash.
The breakdown indicated that each of the 16 centres would recieved 10 bags of rice, 3 bags of sugar, 2 bags of beans, 5 Jerry cans of vegetable oil, 1 bag of dates, 5 cartons of macaroni, red oil 2 Jerry cans, washing accessories 20, packaged leather 2 bags of flour and 100k.
Comrade Alfindiki who was on the spot visit to Kano Municipal Islamic centre where the items were warehouse warned against any act of diversion on the part of those saddled with the responsibility.
Alfindiki disclosed that he has put in place a monitoring Committee to track moment of the food items from the warehouse to the cooking centres and to the distribution centres for the needy.
He revealed that the food items were Council share from the general pot that was flagged off days ago by the Acting Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
The Municipal Council boss commended the governor for sustaining the free Ramadan feeding, adding that, it would go a long way to help the needy.
He similarly enjoined citizens to pray for peace to reign in the state and country in general.
Comrade assured that the Council would pay stipends to all those assigned for the cooking for their sacrifice.
