Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has warned that any attempt to disrupt the existing peaceful coexistence across the State will not be tolerated.
The Governor was reacting to the recent incident that led to destruction of houses, shops and properties in Katanga, Warji Local Government Area while assessing the level of damage.
Time Express gathered that the crises was as a result of an alleged blasphemous message posted on social media by one Rhoda Jatau, a staff of medical department in the local government which attracted the attention of Muslim Faithfuls in the community.
Governor Bala Mohammed who warns that religion is a sensitive issues that should not be taken for granted, called on religious and community leaders to properly guide their subjects on the need to exercise restraint on dangerous statement.
While commending security agents for the quick response in restoring normalcy, the Governor said government would not renege in taking speedy action towards protecting lives and properties of the citizens.
Also addressing the community, the State Commissioner of police Umar Sanda said arrests have been made and investigation is ongoing with a view to fish out and brought perpetrators to book.
Umar Sanda therefore appealed for
calm and avoidance of taking law into the hands of citizens adding that security personnel will intensify operations to avoid further escalation of the incident.
The incident is coming barely one week after a similar case was reported in sokoto which generated public attention.
