Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has revealed that some terrorists hiding in his state are considering relocating permanently to the forests which is more conducive for their business of kidnapping and demanding for ransom.
According to El-Rufai the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan told him about the situation on Thursday when he presented the First Quarter Security Report from 1 January 2022 to 31 March 2022.
The commissioner said that members of Ansaru, ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists who infiltrated some parts of Birnin Gwari and Giwa Local Government Areas have been giving gifts to residents of these two LGAs so as to lure them into their terrorist groups.
He further explained that one of the kidnapped Kaduna-Abuja train victim who was released after paying ransom said he heard their abductors saying that the forests in Kaduna are even better than Sambisa forest and that they have plans to relocate there.
Aruwan said the problem of insecurity has moved from North-East to North-West and that what is happening in the North-West was more dangerous than what has ever happened in the North-East.
The presentation which took place at the Council Chamber of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House Kaduna, was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, senior government officials, Heads of Security Agencies, Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State and Traditional Leaders.
