NYSC Coordinator assures Corps members of adequate security, welfare in Borno

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has told 939 Batch B stream one corps members posted to Borno State to remain calm as all arrangements have been put in place to ensure their welfare and adequate security to protect them. .

The NYSC Coordinator in Borno, Alhaji Nura Umar gave the advice while briefing newsmen shortly after the swearing in of the corps members of Tuesday in Katsina.

Corps members posted to Borno are being camped in Katsina State due to the issue of Insecurity in the state.

According to him, the security, safety and welfare of the corps members from their stay in camp and during the service year are some of the major priorities of the scheme in Borno.

He further explained that the NYSC is in a serious collaboration with all the security agencies on camp and also in Borno to protect the corps members.

Umar further called on the Corps members to sustain the tempo they have started in terms of active participation in all camp activities, especially the skills acquisition programme.

The Coordinator said that by focusing more on the skills acquisition programme, it will give the corps members more skills that would make them self-reliant after service.

According to him, all the corps members, comprising 469 females and 476 males went through the COVID-19 screening and they were all tested negative.

He revealed that not only the corps members, but all the camp officials were screened and tested negative.

Umar added that all the necessary prevention measures have been put in place at strategic locations of the camp.

The oath of allegiance was administered on the corps members by a High Court judge in Borno, Justice Adamu Zandai- Mussa.
