The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Says it would not relent in ensuring that the products in Circulation are up to standard,with the aim of uplifting the well being of the public.
The Director General of the Agency Malam Faruk Salim Stated this during the presentation of certificate of Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program MANCAP to 12 companies operating in Kano.
Represented by the Regional Director of the SON, Mr Albert Wilberforce the certificate is not a ‘cash and carry’ exercise, rather a scientific approach to ensure all facets of production are compiled with relevant standard.
He noted that the exercise is also a national certificate scheme that ensure all local products complied with relevant national industrial standard prior to display in Nigeria Market.
“this will create sanity and ensure safety of products public consume daily SON is increasing developing capacity towards ensuring improved service delivery.
The Director General call all Nigerians to patronise ‘Made in Nigeria goods’ to help boost the economy and create employment.
In his Remark ,the State coordinator Kano state office (one) of the SON, Alhaji Kasssim Muhammed-Yahaya said the program is a continuous inspection, correction overtime and make it confront to standard.
“We have inbuilt system of market where we conduct daily look out for substandard product.
On his part, Sambo Illiyasu, Director Administration of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council said they will continue to partner with SON in making companies to produce standard products.
One of the company issued with the certificate, Ibrahim Muhammed Applauded SON for the certificate and promise to improve their products.
He Charged those certified to ensure that the produced products if good standard and quality,with the aim of improving the nations economy.
The ceremony was attended by officials of SON, company executives and other stakeholders.
