The National Population commission says it would conduct trial census on 11 of July in kano state, with the aim of determining how the Actual census will be conducted in 2023 as planned.
The federal Commissioner of the Commission in Kano Dr. Isma’il Lawan Sulaiman made the remarks during a stakeholder awareness session in Kano South senatorial zone on how the trial census would be conducted in the senatorial zone.
Dr. Isma’il Lawan said the event was organized to sensitized stakeholders,especially Ward heads, village head, imams and students, with the aim ensuring that they understand the importance of the trial census geared towards achieving the set objectives.
He said the trial census would be conducted with the aim of understanding how the project would be conducted and how to tackle the challenges ahead of the actual census that will hold next year.
The federal commissioner said the census would be conducted in 9 local government areas in three zones of Kano State, and training had already been completed to the enumerators and instructors.
In his remarks, the District Head of Rano, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim,who was represented by Village head of Madaci Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, commended the commission and assured that they would provide all necessary cooperation for the success conduct of the Exercise .
He urged relevant stakeholders and other members of the community to accord maximum support and cooperation to the scheme geared towards ensuring the success of the programme.
The trial census will be conducted in Rano Kibiya and Bunkure Local Government Areas of Kano South Senatorial zone.
