A building under construction has collapsed in one of the GSM markets in Kano has collapsed.
The building is located on Beirut road, a very busy area in the Kano metropolis.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to radio Nigeria said many people are feared trapped in the rubble.
They said some of the persons inside the building when it caved in could not be rescued because of the weight of the broken blocks and sand.
Meanwhile, a member of the rescue team who got to the scene early, said an excavator in its place to boost efforts to rescue all the trapped victims.
The public relations officer of kano state fire service Saminu yusif confirmed the incident to newsmen, he said many has been rescued and had been taken to the hospital.
It could not yet be ascertained If there was a loss of lives.
