7 persons of one family have died after eating a Hausa traditional food “Dambu” in Danbaza village of Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, a member of the family Mr Lawal Haruna, who is among the survivors, said about 22 members of the extended family ate the food which was a mixture of Guinea Corn, vegetables and seasoning.
Haruna explained that immediately some of them started manifesting symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea, leading to the death of 6 persons on that day..
He said, the 7th person died the following morning while others survived .
The State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara who visited the affected family, urged members of the public to ensure proper hygiene especially when handling food.
