Kano state Ministry of Housing and Transportation has said that it has concluded plans to procure 100 vehicles, under Kanawa Transportation Scheme to ease high cost of fare for the citizenry.
The permanent secretary of the state ministry, Amina Usman disclosed this while receiving the newly commissioner Alhaji Sale Kausani who resume office on Friday
The state government had been disturbed by the high cost of transportation fares in the country, adding that it is set to commence the Kanawa Bus services Transportation Scheme soon.
Mrs Usman, who spoke on the significance of the scheme introduced to improve the wellbeing of the general public, traced the history of the ministry as well as achievements recorded by the present administration in the ministry.
She however assured the staff of the ministry’s support and cooperation so as to assist the commissioner discharge his duties effectively.
She stated that ” the Kano state government, under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has invested millions of Naira for the procurement of a hundred buses for the smooth services of Kanawa transportation scheme, designed to address transportation challenges in the state as commercial nerve center of the country,” she said.
Recieving the mantle of leadership of the ministry, the new Commissioner of Housing and Transport, Alhaji Sale Kausani, assured an open door policy in discharging his assignments in line with Ganduje administration policies and programme.
Kausani said the state government under the leadership of Gov Ganduje is always ready to support any move that will move the state.
The commissioner who called on the staffers of the ministry to give him all necessary support and cooperation, pledged to come up with various initiatives that wpuld move the ministry forward.
