The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association IPMAN has threatened to embark on a three-day warning strike over seventy billion naira unsettled claims.
Briefing newsmen in Maiduguri, spokesman of the forum of Independent Petroleum marketers Abdulkadir Musa, said the federal government has not paid any independent marketer from the nine depots, in northern Nigeria, bridging claim in 2022.
He claimed that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has paid only five percent of its claim from 2019 to 2021.
According to the spokesman, the Association has decided to withdraw their services at the depots from today Monday to Wednesday.
“IPMAN wish to clarify the air on our resolution to embark on 3 days withdrawal of services at the Deports, as a warning action. For years, we have following and lobbying the management of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory regarding our unsettled bridging claims but to no avail ” Musa said.
Malam Abdulkadir Musa lamented that alot of members of the Association have been forced out of business due to the accumulated debt.
IPMAN called on federal government to henceforth pay claims of products lifted within thirty days as failure to do so will lead to indefinite suspension of their services in all Depots and filling stations across northern Nigeria.
