The stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party in Niger State, today, paid a courtesy visit to the Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar GCON, in his Abuja residence.
The team, which was led by Prof Jerry Gana had in attendance the State Chairman of the Party-Barr. Tanko Beji, Sen. Zainab Kure, Umar Nasco and the former Chief Servant of the State, Babangida Aliyu amongst others.
In his opening remarks, Prof Jerry Gana, who spoke on behalf of the delegation used the opportunity to congratulate the former Vice President, for emerging the flag bearer of the party and offered prayers for his victory in the forthcoming general elections. In his words, Atiku’s emergence will restore good governance which will bring peace and stability in Nigeria.
The State Chairman on behalf of the entire State working committee of the party expressed how proud he was to meet the former Vice President and pledged full loyalty to the candidature of Atiku Abubakar with a promise to deliver the Party in all the elections in the state.
The leader of the delegation Prof. Gana, further enumerated that under the previous Obasanjo/Atiku presidency; the duo restored international respect for Nigeria, ensured debt cancellation, established and strengthened major democratic institutions that guaranteed economic growth and stability, which brought honour and pride for Nigerians both within and outside the country.
He stated that Nigerians are looking towards the direction of Atiku Abubakar as the man that will restore the lost glory of the good old days which everyone is yearning for. In his words, Prof Gana stated that “under your leadership, we believe the insecurity bedeviling the nation will be over; hence, having done it before; we know you will do it again”.
Prof Gana used the opportunity to appeal to the former Vice President to use his wealth of experience to resolve all the lingering issues within the party, as to ensure victory for the PDP in the forth coming general elections. On behalf of the Niger state delegation, Prof Gana further appealed to the presidential candidate to engage all the aggrieved members of the party by accommodating everyone’s interest as to ensure a collective victory for the PDP.
In his response, the presidential Candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar warmly welcomed everyone by thanking the State delegation for the congratulatory visit. Atiku used the opportunity of the visit to acknowledge and appreciate Prof Jerry Gana, for all his sacrifices towards resolving major differences and contending issues within the party. Atiku stated his regrets for the loss the party experienced in Niger State which he said was caused by disunity amongst party members. Atiku mentioned that Niger State is a PDP state and therefore, called for members of the party to work in unity in order to reclaim the state.
While calling on all the party members to be united and dedicated, Atiku assured them of his maximum support, in making sure the party wins in all the elections in the state. He wished them well and encouraged them to work as a team for the victory of the party in Niger State.
