The Chairman of the National Population Commission Alhaji Isa Kwarra has called on Nigerians to intensify Efforts in ensuring the registration of vital events, especially registration of Births and Deaths.
Alhaji Isa Kwarra stated this while addressing journalists in kano on the commemoration of 2022 civil registration and vital statistics day held in Kano.
He said the celebration of the registration and vital statistics was aimed at enlightening the general population on the importance of registering events, especially Birth of Death.
The Chairman represented by the federal Commissioner Dr. Ismail Lawal Suleiman maintained that the Civic and Vital registration Statistics(CVRS) provides an opportunity for a reflection on the legal identity from birth to death of all persons to enhance future planning for the development of the Nation.
“The Commission Plans to Inaugurate the CRVS that will include our numerous partners and CRVS entities especially ministry of Health Education, Justice, Women Affairs, the identity management Commission and Bureau of Statistics, and National primary health development Agency among others to strengthen and improve high-level coordination and promote the use of data generated for national development and planning “
Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra noted that the commission has developed a data collection and reporting mobile application software built for online and offline birth and death registrations.
He added that vital registration was more only for an individual to achieve full legal status, but a variable source of statistical data for effective planning for sustainable national development.
