The member representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituencies in House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum says the reasons attributed to the sudden outbursts of Tiga dam are questionable.
In the statement released by his Media adviser, Fatihu Yusif Bichi, Hon. Rurum made the disclosure during an impromptu visit on Saturday to familiarize himself in the aftermath of the dam outbursts that wreak havoc, which washed away farms and forced the surrounding villages to flee to safety.
During the visit, the ex-speaker, Kano assembly says according to the firsthand information he got from the victims directly affected from the Tiga dam overflows suspected that some channel blockage, under the alleged approval of the Hadejia/Jama’are River Basin Authority are responsible for the overflowed to brim that causes the powerful water outbursts.
Hon. Rurum said he witnessed that the bridge which connected Tiga town and neighbouring villages was damage and the 25 meter long coaltar road was washed out results from the deluge.
” The dam flood is a serious threat to the lives and livelihood of the people living in the area, even Rurum town and number of farms were badly affected from the forcefully flowing river” he said.
Hon. Rurum stressed that upon receiving the news of the dam overflow, he rushed back home from Abuja in order to have a personal assessment of the incident.
” I do have to use the medium of calling upon the Federal Government as well as the state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Hadejia/Jama’are River Basin Authority to come to the rescue of the affected community. he pleaded.
Rt. Hon Kabiru Alhassan Rurum urged the affected victims of the dam floods to take solace in the tragic events, adding that he would do everything at his disposal to cushioned the effects result from the unwelcome tragedy.
