A High Court in Kano has Adjourns Ummukulsum’s Murder Case to 27 October Kano state High Court presided by Justice sunusi Ado has adjourned the case file by kano state Government for alleged murder of Umma Khulsum Buhari By a Chinese National Mr Frank Geng Quarong Alias Faisal to 27October 2022.
The presiding judge Justice Sunusi Ado adjourned the case during the court session held in Kano.
When the case came up for re-arraignment, the Defense Counsel, Mr Muhammad Dan’azumi, urged the court to provide an interpreter for his client relying on section 36(6)(a)(b) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
Me Frank Geng is facing a count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to section 221 of Penal Code.
Speaking during the Court session ,the counsel to the defendant Mohammed Dan’azumi said the defendant is entitled for an interpreter, “he is exploring his Constitutional right”
“My Lord the defendant is not a Nigerian,the English of the court is a unique language and the defendant needs to understand the charges he is standing trial on.”
The prosecution counsel, Kano State Attorney General, Barr. Musa Abdullahi-Lawan, told the court that he had ordered the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to write a letter to the Chinese Embassy and Chinese Community in Kano requesting for an interpreter on behalf of the defendant.
Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, ordered the Kano State Government to write to the Chinese Embassy to provide an interpreter for the defendant.
He ordered the remand of the defendant in a Correctional Center and adjourned the matter until Oct.27, for arraignment.
Time Express recalled that Mr Frank Geng was alleged to have gone to the residence of his girlfriend Ummukulsum at Janbulo Quarters Kano on Sept.16, and stabbed her to Death.
