Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has on Friday presented an aggregate sum of N245,31,516,94.08 as the proposed budget for 2023 fiscal year before the state house of assembly.
The Governor Allocated over N144billion Naira representing 59 per cent for capital expenditure while over N100billion amounting 41 per cent was Allocated for recurrent expenditure.
In the sectoral allocation, education got the lion’s share of over N66 billion, health follows with N39billion, and works and infrastructure N35billion.
General administration N32billion, agriculture N19.9billion, water supply N15billion, and security N12.8billion. Tourism and culture has an allocation of N328 million, Environment N15billion, and Women Affairs N1.2billion.
The budget was tagged “Budget of Consolidated and Prosperity Two”,
He said his administration will not relent in providing more infrastructure and social amenities for the well being of the general populace.
In a remark speaker Kano state house of assembly,Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari reaffirmed the house readiness to pass the 2023 proposed budget before the end of 2022.
According to him,the house would immediately swing into action to pass the 2023 budget in good time to help the state keep to it’s January nto December budget circle .
The speaker however stressed that, the passage of the budget would be done without compromising the rules and established traditions for through scrutiny and engagements with all identified relevant stakeholders.
He maintained that the 9th assembly had adopted over 200 motion resolutions and passed over 40 bills aimed at improving living standards among Kano citizens.
Some of the bills include Kano state public financial management law 2020, Kano state public procurement law 2021, Kano state audit commission law 2020, Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi Singa and Galadima Markets management amendment law (no. 2),among others.
Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, charged all relevant generating ministries and departments, to brace up and take full advantage of the law, by adopting strategies to aggressively develop means of generating internal revenue.
