Diabetic Patients Urge FG to Include them in NHIS

Federal government has been advised to include diabetic patients in the national Health insurance scheme programme.

A cross sections of diabetic patients made the appeal during the occasion to mark world diabetic week celebration held at Ahmadu Bello university Teaching Hospital shika Zaria.

The diabetic patients stressed the need for the federal and state government to make adequate arrangement to include diabetes patients in their health insurance programs to alleviate their suffering.

They noted that diabetic patients are at higher risks to lost their lives than HIV Aid, tubaclosis, among other.

Professor Fatima Bello advised diabetes patients to imbibed the habit of visiting health facilities and maintain their routine medical check up.

In Nigeria, investigation has revealed that the rate of diabetes patients is increasing where over ten million Nigerians are suffering from diabetic and about 537 million people are suffering from diabetic scourge worldwide .
