Social Protection: Group Advocates for Inclusion of Social Protection in Governance.

A Coalition of Social Protection Civil Society Organisations and Partners has organized a one-day enlightenment campaign for Candidates from different political parties in Kano, to enlighten them on the importance of inclusion of social protection in all aspects of government.

Speaking during the campaign the Chairman of Kano State Social Protection Platform Salisu Yusif said the campaign aimed to ensure that the vulnerable, the poor, and the aging group benefits from good governance.

“Our priority is to ensure that those groups mentioned have access to good health care service, Education, and Good Environment among others”

Salisu Yusif said the attention of the candidates was been drawn to the importance of integrating social protection into their manifestation so that if elected they will ensure the inclusion of social protection in all. aspects of governance.

He said the campaign tagged”‘ #SP2EP2023 intends to secure the continued commitment of the government to sustain and expand investing in programs and initiatives that will raise the standard of living for the vulnerable population, ensure functional and coordinated systems for Health, Education, and Employment for all, and address the issues of poverty, gender and social inclusion for children, Persons with Disability, Senior Citizens and other marginalized groups in the Society.”

Speaking during the event the kano central senatorial candidates under the platform of the African Democratic Congress ADC Alhaji Balarabe Rufa’i and the candidate for the federal House of Representatives for Madobi, Kura Garun Malam Hajiya Zahra’u Bashir undernthe tje platform of peoples Redemption Party PRP said the enlightenment campaign was very timely.

“This meeting is very important and an eye opener especially for us the legislative to be, we have understood the importance of social protection, and GOD willing when we get to the chambers we will give social protection special consideration.

The Workshop was attended by leaders of political parties in Kano, candidates, politicians and other stakeholders.
