The Jigawa State Police Command has reported two separate incidents of tragedy and crime in the state.
A 20-year-old cyclist, Anas Jamilu, was attacked, killed, and dumped in a well by a four-man squad in Garki LGA. The suspects, including a repeat offender, have been arrested and will be charged to court after investigation.
Five persons, including three children, drowned in floodwaters while trying to cross a road in Buji LGA. The victims were rescued but pronounced dead at the hospital.
The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing culprits in the murder case and are working to prevent further tragedies in the flood-affected areas.
