The Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Market Kano Alhaji Abdulkadir Hussein says arrangements on the top gear to install central fire extinguisher all over the market community to fore stall any fire out break.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Hussein disclosed this during a media briefing in Kano.

He said One of the key initiatives introduce by current management of the market is the plan to install a central fire extinguisher system.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Hussein explained that Recently, the market leadership discovered an online syndicate selling bleaching injections using the Abubakar Rimi Market (Sabongari market) as a cover.

He said the online syndicate, which mostly targeted women, used the Sabongari market to sell the bleaching injections to their clients.

“This operation was conducted without the knowledge or consent of the market leadership.”

“The discovery of the syndicate’s activities was made possible by a tip-off from a good Samaritan within the market. This prompt alert enabled the leadership to take swift action against the illicit operation.”

The Managing Director noted that the market leadership collaborated with traders at the cosmetic side and personnel from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to check the activities of the online traders.

“This joint effort was crucial in uncovering the syndicate’s operations.”

“An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing. However, no arrests have been made as yet. The MD explained that the online traders were using the name of Sabongari market to perpetrate their illicit acts.”

He said to prevent similar incidents in the future, the market has constituted a powerful committee to checkmate the activities of online traders and others engaging in illegal business within the market.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Hussein further explained that measure were put in place to ensure proper and adequate evacuation of waste from drainages to curtail the menace of flooding during this year’s rainy season.

He added that prudent mode of payment for shops has been adopted through the cashless system to checkmate any act of fraudulent activities.
