The Kano State Police Command has announced the deployment of robust security measures across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free New Year celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this following a follow-up meeting with operational commanders held at police headquarters Bompai Kano.
CP Bakori commended officers and men of the command for the effective security coverage recorded during the Christmas festivities and charged them to intensify patrols, strengthen visibility policing and sustain intelligence-led operations throughout the New Year period.
He stressed the need for heightened alertness at public places and recreational centres.
According to the command, security has been reinforced at major places of visit, while round-the-clock patrols, traffic control and improved intelligence gathering mechanisms have been put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order during the celebrations.
The police also issued safety advisories to residents, urging them to remain vigilant, report suspicious movements and comply with public safety rules. The command warned against underage and reckless driving, unauthorised horse riding, as well as the use of knockouts, bangers and fireworks, which have been strictly prohibited.
CP Bakori appreciated the cooperation of residents and encouraged them to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines
