NAHCON Hails Kano Pilgrims Board for Exemplary Performance in 2026 Hajj Preparations

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board for what it described as an outstanding demonstration of commitment and efficiency in preparations ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The commendation was issued during a joint meeting with all State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies held on Wednesday in Abuja.

Speaking at the session, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, revealed that the state has so far remitted over ₦22 billion to NAHCON. He said the early and substantial remittance underscores Kano’s readiness and its resolve to ensure a smooth, timely, and well-organized Hajj operation for its intending pilgrims.

Danbappa explained that the board’s proactive approach is aimed at eliminating last-minute challenges and guaranteeing that pilgrims from the state are adequately catered for from the planning stage to the spiritual journey in Saudi Arabia.

Reacting to the development, the Chairman of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, lauded Kano State for setting what he termed “a remarkable standard” among all participating states. He described Kano as “different among others,” emphasizing the board’s transparency, efficiency, and exemplary coordination.

Prof. Usman further commended the leadership style of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, noting that its consistent efforts in improving service delivery and prioritizing pilgrims’ welfare continue to enhance the overall credibility of Hajj operations in Nigeria.

He added that such early preparedness not only eases the Commission’s planning process but also ensures that intending pilgrims receive the best possible support, guidance, and comfort throughout the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Kano State’s performance, he said, should serve as a model for other states as the nation moves toward a more seamless and efficient Hajj management system.

The statement was signed by Comrade Sulaiman A. Dederi, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
