The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a 35-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano metropolis.
In a media statement signed by the public relations officer of the command CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said The incident occurred at about 12:10 p.m. on January 17, 2025, when unknown hoodlums reportedly broke into the residence of Haruna Bashir and attacked the occupants.
According to the police, the victims were assaulted with dangerous weapons and sustained fatal injuries. Upon receiving a distress call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered the immediate deployment of a team to the scene, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.
The bodies of the victims were evacuated to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The Commissioner of Police also directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, to carry out a thorough investigation aimed at arresting and prosecuting those responsible for the attack.
The police command expressed condolences to the bereaved family, the residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State.
