As the holy month of Ramadan clocks its seventh day, Ambassador Dr Amina Umar Namadi has called on the Muslim Ummah to intensify prayers for peaceful coexistence across all parts of the nation and to deepen acts of charity toward the vulnerable and needy in society.

Ambassador Namadi emphasized the spiritual significance of Ramadan as a period of reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to faith and humanity. She urged Muslims to use the sacred month not only for fasting but also for fervent prayers aimed at fostering unity, stability, and harmony in the country.

“Ramadan is a month of mercy, forgiveness, and compassion. It is a time to strengthen our relationship with Allah and also with one another,” she said. “As we observe our fast, let us remember our dear nation in our prayers, asking Allah to grant us lasting peace and peaceful coexistence among all communities.”

The Ambassador noted that the country continues to face social and economic challenges, stressing that collective prayers and sincere devotion can inspire positive change and national healing.

She appealed to religious leaders to continue preaching messages of tolerance, understanding, and unity throughout the fasting period.

Beyond prayers, Ambassador Dr Amina Umar Namadi made a passionate appeal to wealthy individuals and well-meaning Nigerians to extend generous support to the vulnerable, particularly widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, and low-income families struggling to meet basic needs.

“Ramadan teaches us sacrifice and empathy. Those whom Allah has blessed with abundance should remember those who have little or nothing,” she stated. “A simple act of kindness—providing food for Iftar, offering financial assistance, or supporting community initiatives—can make a profound difference in the lives of the less privileged.”

She further encouraged corporate organizations and philanthropic groups to organize outreach programs, distribute food items, and sponsor community Iftar gatherings to promote inclusiveness and brotherhood.

Community leaders who spoke in support of her message described the appeal as timely, noting that rising living costs have made it increasingly difficult for many families to observe Ramadan comfortably. They echoed the call for sustained charity throughout the month and beyond.

As Muslims continue the spiritual journey of Ramadan, Ambassador Namadi reminded the faithful that the rewards of good deeds are multiplied during the holy month. She urged all citizens, regardless of religious background, to embrace values of love, generosity, and peaceful coexistence for the progress of the nation.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. The fast, which lasts from dawn to sunset, is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and serves as a reminder of compassion for the less privileged.
