NAHCON Seeks Extension as Saudi Arabia Closes Data Capture for 2026 Hajj

Admin 2 months ago

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the official closure of the data-capturing window for the 2026 Hajj exercise by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, raising fresh concerns for intending Nigerian pilgrims yet to complete their registration.

In a public notice, NAHCON disclosed that the closure was effected by Saudi Arabia through its Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, marking the end of the upload process on the Nusuk Masar platform for the 2026 Hajj season.

The development affects pilgrims whose details are yet to be captured and uploaded by relevant Hajj stakeholders in Nigeria.

Reacting to the situation, the Commission said it has formally appealed to the Saudi authorities, requesting an extension of the data-capturing deadline.

According to NAHCON, the appeal is aimed at allowing all Hajj organs in Nigeria to complete the documentation and upload of remaining intending pilgrims who were unable to meet the deadline before the closure.

NAHCON expressed optimism that the Saudi authorities would give favourable consideration to the request, assuring the general public that it remains in close communication with relevant officials in the Kingdom.

The Commission pledged to promptly inform pilgrims and stakeholders of any new directives or approvals once official feedback is received.

Meanwhile, the Commission issued a strong warning to intending pilgrims, advising them to desist from making any payments for the 2026 Hajj exercise. NAHCON emphasized that payment of Hajj fares for the 2026 pilgrimage has been officially closed and that no individual, group, or agency is authorized to collect money on behalf of the Commission at this stage.

Members of the public were further urged to rely solely on NAHCON’s verified and official communication channels for updates, in order to avoid misinformation, fraud, or financial loss.

NAHCON concluded by appreciating the patience, understanding, and cooperation of all stakeholders, reiterating its commitment to working closely with Saudi authorities to safeguard the interests of Nigerian pilgrims and ensure a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj operation when the process resumes.
