The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has strengthened its collaboration with the Nigerian Navy Logistics College as part of efforts to intensify the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the country.
The Commander of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the College in Dawakin Tofa, Commodore Ahmad Adamu Dawaki, on February 26, 2026. The visit, according to the agency, was aimed at reinforcing inter-agency cooperation and enhancing coordinated strategies against substance abuse and illegal drug supply.
During the meeting, Lawal briefed the Commandant on initiatives introduced by the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), which focus on both demand and supply reduction strategies.
He highlighted plans to introduce drug integrity tests across government agencies and tertiary institutions nationwide as a preventive measure, as well as alternative development programmes designed to address the socio-economic factors fueling drug production and trafficking.
In his remarks, Commodore Dawaki commended the NDLEA for its critical role within Nigeria’s security architecture and acknowledged its longstanding collaboration with the military.
He reaffirmed the College’s readiness to support the agency’s mandate and disclosed plans to expand its course offerings to accommodate personnel from other security agencies and members of the public.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of mementos between the two institutions, symbolising their renewed commitment to sustained partnership in combating the menace of drug abuse.
