The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has disrupted a drug network in Gezawa community, arresting 19 suspects and seizing a large quantity of illicit substances under its ongoing “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”
The operation, carried out on February 26, 2026, was conducted under the leadership of the Commander of Narcotics, Dahiry Lawal, as part of intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse during the Ramadan period.
Acting on credible intelligence provided by a concerned member of the community, NDLEA operatives stormed identified drug joints in Gezawa, dismantling the network and recovering various prohibited substances.
Items seized during the raid include cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, a street substance known as “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, pregabalin tablets and other assorted controlled drugs.
The exhibits are now in the agency’s custody as investigations continue.
Commander Dahiru Lawal said the objective of the operation was to ensure safer communities and enable residents observe a peaceful Ramadan. He warned that the command would not relent in its efforts to protect public health and safety.
The action, he noted, aligns with the directive of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), who has mandated sustained operations nationwide to dismantle drug trafficking networks and reduce substance abuse.
The Kano Strategic Command urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in safeguarding neighbourhoods and protecting families from the dangers of illicit drugs.
