Admin 1 month ago
The Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a car theft syndicate and recovered three stolen vehicles in a major crackdown on vehicle theft across the state.
The public relations officer of the command CSP Abdullahi Haruna disclosed this to newsmen in KANO.
He said the breakthrough followed sustained intelligence-led and technology-driven operations in line with directives from the Nigeria Police Force.
Police operatives from the Command’s Special Intervention Squad arrested a 35-year-old suspect, Aliyu Mamman, on Feb. 13 at Hotoro Ring Road in Kano. Authorities described him as a serial car theft suspect.
According to police sources, Mamman, a resident of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, confessed to stealing several vehicles in Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states.
He reportedly identified other members of his syndicate during interrogation.
The police subsequently arrested five additional suspects — Abdulhamid Usman, Saliha Abdulhamid, Auwal Shuaibu, Sani Bala and Ahmad Mannir — in connection with the case.
The suspects allegedly confessed to the crimes, leading to the recovery of three vehicles: a Golf Wagon, a Golf Opel and a Hijet (Kurkura).
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State commended the Special Intervention Squad for what he described as professionalism and dedication in dismantling the syndicate.
