Ramadan: Kano State Social Protection Agency DG Lauds Aminu Magashi Foundation for Donating Food Items to Vulnerable Residents

The Director-General of the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA), Dr. Fateema Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), has commended the Aminu Magashi Foundation for donating food items to vulnerable residents at the D/Kudu Vocational Rehabilitation Training Centre in Kano.
Dr. Fateema gave the commendation on Wednesday while witnessing the official handover of the food supplies to the management of the rehabilitation centre.
She described the intervention as both timely and impactful, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan when the need for collective support and compassion for vulnerable groups becomes more pressing.
According to her, the donation would significantly cushion the hardship faced by beneficiaries at the centre, many of whom depend largely on public goodwill and government support for their daily sustenance.
“This gesture reflects the spirit of Ramadan — compassion, generosity and shared responsibility,” she said. “It will go a long way in supporting the feeding needs of residents as they observe the fasting period.”
The KASPA boss also used the occasion to applaud the efforts of Abba Kabir Yusuf for facilitating the evacuation of over 200 mentally ill persons from the streets of Kano and ensuring their admission into the D/Kudu facility for proper medical care and rehabilitation.
She noted that the state government’s intervention demonstrates a commitment to restoring dignity to vulnerable citizens and reintegrating them into society through structured rehabilitation and social protection programmes.
Dr. Fateema called on other well-meaning individuals, philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to complement the government’s initiatives by extending similar humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations across Kano State.
Foundation Pledges Wider Outreach
In his remarks, the founder of the Aminu Magashi Foundation, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, pledged to replicate the gesture in 12 additional rehabilitation centres across the state in the coming weeks.
He explained that the donated items — including bags of maize, rice and cooking oil — were specifically targeted at addressing the feeding needs of residents during Ramadan, when nutritional demands can increase despite fasting.
“Our goal is to support government efforts and ensure that no vulnerable person is left without care, especially during this sacred month,” he said.
Also speaking at the event were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajiya Amina Yar’gaya, and the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Isyaku Kubarachi. Both officials commended the foundation for its generosity and reaffirmed the importance of partnerships between government institutions and private organisations.
They stressed that sustained collaboration remains essential to strengthening social protection frameworks and addressing poverty and vulnerability in Kano State.
The event concluded with renewed calls for increased synergy between public agencies and philanthropic bodies to expand the reach and impact of humanitarian interventions, particularly during Ramadan — a period marked by reflection, charity and communal solidarity.
