The Wife of the Governor of Jigawa State, Ambassador Dr. Amina Umar Namadi, has been honoured with the Her Excellence Award 2026 in recognition of her contributions to women empowerment and social development across Nigeria.

The award was presented during a special ceremony held on March 8, 2026, at Wells Carlton Hotels & Apartments, as part of activities marking International Women’s Day.

The event celebrated 50 Outstanding Women of Excellence and attracted prominent women leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and advocates from different parts of the country.
Amb. Dr. Namadi, popularly known as Uwar Marayu and Garkuwar Matan Africa, was represented at the event by the Chairlady of Kaugama Local Government Area, Amb. Fatima Usman Masaki, who received the award on her behalf.

She was accompanied by her husband, Hon. Usman Masaki, Chairman of the local government area.
Also present at the ceremony was Abdullahi Mahmud, founder of the Abdullahi Mahmud Foundation, who attended the event alongside his wife to celebrate the achievements of outstanding women leaders.
Speaking on the recognition, organisers of the award noted that Amb. Dr. Namadi was selected for her sustained efforts in championing women’s empowerment, supporting orphans and vulnerable groups, and promoting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of communities across Jigawa State and beyond.

The honour, they added, highlights her dedication to humanitarian service and her growing influence as a strong advocate for women’s inclusion and social development.
