The Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA) has officially withdrawn its notice of impeachment against former Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
The withdrawal followed a motion by the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussaini, during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Jibril Isma’il.
Speaking to journalists after the sitting, Hussaini explained that, in line with Order 3, Rule 6A, he decided to withdraw the motion following the voluntary resignation of the former deputy governor.
This development comes after the Kano State House of Assembly had, on 5th March 2026, initiated impeachment proceedings against Aminu Abdulsalam over allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of public trust.
The action followed a petition from the Executive, urging the legislature to act against the Deputy Governor for alleged irregularities during his tenure as Commissioner for Local Government Affairs between 2023 and 2024.
While reading the petition, Lawan Hussaini Dala, the Majority Leader, noted that the impeachment notice was in accordance with Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
