The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was abducted in Mararaba, arresting two suspects linked to the crime.

According to a statement issued to journalists by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident was reported by the child’s mother, Aisha Bada, a resident of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market area in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The distraught mother informed police that unknown individuals had abducted her newborn baby while she was asleep. Her husband, Abubakar Isah, a commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) rider, was said to have been away in Lagos for business over the past five months.

Police reports indicate that the suspects forcefully gained entry into the woman’s uncompleted building located on the outskirts of Unguwan Bawa, Orange Market. The attackers allegedly threatened her with violence before whisking away the infant to an unknown destination.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately directed detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division to visit the scene and launch a full-scale investigation into the incident.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested two suspects identified as Furera Abdulrahman of Rugan Juli and Sadiya Abdullahi of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market. The abducted baby was found in their possession and safely recovered.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime and identified another accomplice, who is currently on the run. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect.

The rescued infant was promptly taken to the Medical Centre in Mararaba, where he was examined by a doctor, certified to be in good health, and subsequently discharged. He has since been reunited with his parents.

Police authorities confirmed that the case is still under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further discreet inquiry upon completion of preliminary findings.

The Command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
