….Borno, Zamfara eight other states arrive Thursday
Kano state government has concluded all arrangements towards the successful hosting of this year’s Inter-Secondary schools Savannah Conference basketball championship for boys and girls scheduled to commence from May 6th to 13rd, 2026.
The championship which is expected to attract ten states in attendance include Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Zamfara, Bauchi. Yobe, Katsina, Gombe and the host state Kano.
Speaking, the head of schools sports of the the state ministry of education, Malam Kabiru Shehu said the officials of the Nigerian School Sports Federation NSSF, the competition’s sponsors Nestle Milo and the host officials have been doing everything possible to ensure a hitch free championship.
While commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and commissioner of education Gwani Ali Haruna Makoda as well as other stakeholders for their commitment and support, he called on the partipating states to give the organizers all maximum support and cooperation towards the success of the tournament.
The winners for both boys and girls would proceed to Lagos for the final stage of the competition schedule to hold later in the year.
Similarly, the President of the Nigerian School Sports Federation NSSF, Mrs Olabisi Joseph has announced other three hosting Conference states namely: Kwara, Oyo and Delta.
According to the president, the Central conference will run from May 14th to 21st in Ilorin, Kwara state and Atlantic conference is from June 2nd to 9th while Western conference will take place from June 10th to 17th in Ibadan, Oyo state.
While expressed gratitude to the National Sports Commission led by Malam Shehu Dikko, the sponsors of basketball, Nestle Milo company, the Nigerian Basketball Federation NBBF and other stakeholders for their positive impact and contribution, she called for more support aimed at keeping engaging teeming youth through sporting activities and academically.
The grand final for boys and girls category will play at the indoor sports hall of National stadium, Surulere, Lagos later in the year.
