The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissolved its Kano State executive committee and appointed Umar Bala Umar Kwalwa as the party’s acting chairman in the state.
The announcement was made in Kano on Monday by the party’s state leader, Hajiya Naja’atu Bala Muhammad, during a press conference. She said the decision followed allegations of anti-party activities against the dissolved state leadership.
Naja’atu alleged that the party’s governorship candidate in Kano had devoted more attention to promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu instead of working to strengthen the ADC and campaign for its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
She explained that the dissolution of the state executive was necessary to reposition the party, strengthen its internal structure, and provide effective leadership capable of uniting members and preparing the party for future elections.
Naja’atu expressed confidence that the newly appointed caretaker leadership, headed by Kwalwa, would discharge its responsibilities with fairness, transparency, and commitment, while rebuilding the party on a solid foundation for the benefit of its members across Kano State.
