The Federal Government has approved a monthly transport support of N70,000 for public service workers across all salary grade levels for six months, beginning November 2026.
The agreement was reached on Tuesday between the Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to cushion the effects of economic hardship on Nigerian workers.
The parties also agreed that payment of arrears for the approved Peculiar Allowance, effective from May 1, 2026, would commence in November and be paid in three equal monthly instalments.
Similarly, the meeting resolved that 19 months of outstanding allowances owed to health workers would be settled within three months, beginning December 2026.
The Federal Government and organised labour further agreed to constitute a Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee, which would commence work immediately.
They also urged state and local governments to participate in the intervention to ensure wider coverage for workers.
The parties agreed to reconvene in one month to assess the implementation of the resolutions.
The meeting followed an earlier conciliation meeting between the Federal Government and organised labour held on October 22, 2026.
