Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has sued the Sokoto State Government over its alleged failure to release the report of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry into his administration from 2015 to 2023.
Tambuwal, through his counsel, U.O. Sule, SAN, filed the suit, marked SS/133/2026, before Justice Mohammed Mohammed of the Sokoto State High Court 6.
The defendants are Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Sokoto State Commission of Inquiry.
The suit followed the alleged refusal or failure of the state government and the commission to provide Tambuwal with a copy of the report after the conclusion of the commission’s proceedings.
The Judicial Commission of Inquiry was constituted by the Sokoto State Government to examine activities, transactions and other matters relating to the Tambuwal administration.
The commission was chaired by a former Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga.
In the suit, Tambuwal is asking the court to compel the defendants to make the commission’s report available to him.
He argued that access to the report was necessary for him to know the findings and conclusions reached by the commission.
The case has brought the dispute over the report before the court, with the defendants required to respond to Tambuwal’s demand.
The court has fixed Nov. 9, 2026, for judgment in the suit.
