Jigawa Pension Board Pays Over N1 Billion Terminal Benefits to 474 Retirees

Jigawa state and local governments contributory pension scheme board says it has paid over 1 billion naira as a terminal benefit to 474 retired civil servants in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the scheme, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa, made this known at a press conference in his office.

According to him, the amount was the terminal pension for those who retired for the month of November 2022.

He further explained that, the amount being paid will cover the retirement benefit, death pension and death pension balance.

Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa said the payment covered retirees from the State civil service, local government councils’ service, and local education authorities.

He said over 869 million was paid to  retirees who retired from State service, local government councils as well as in local government education authorities.

He said the families of 21 deceased employees from the state civil service, 19 persons from the Local Govermen Council and 19 persons from the Local government education authority received over 157 million naira.

Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa said a total of those on death pension balance are 24 in number and were given over 25 million naira.

He said the board and the state government will continue to ensure the welfare of its workers, for better service delivery and the well being of retirees after service.

He pointed out that, Jigawa State is up to date in the payment of entitlements to retirees which includes those who died in active service.

The Pension Boss therefore, commended Governor Badaru Abubukar for his untiring support and cooperation to the scheme.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Radio Nigeria commended the state government for the gesture.
