The minister of communications and digital economy professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has a described the unauthorized sales of private mobile Radio as an economic threat to the Nation.
Professor Pantami disclosed this during a media briefing held in Kano.
Represented by the Director Human Resources Dr. Famous Eseduwo , said the ministry being saddled with the responsibility of managing all private mobile frequency spectrum will not relent in ensuring that decent conduct of the use radio-communication facilities were being strictly adhered to.
He said if private mobile radio were being properly managed it supports the nations economy, hence government would not allow such opportunities to be misused by some unpatriotic citizens.
Professor Isa Ali Pantami noted that operating on the unlicensed frequencies causes a lot of inconveniences which includes interfering with other frequencies assigned to other services and leading to cross talk and distorted communication.
“The effective use of spectrum can lead to innovative and bright economic future for our country , you will recall that Nigeria generated over 500 million Dollars through the sell of 5G spectrum recently , hence it becomes obvious that Spectrum can support Nigeria’s Economy”
The minister maintained that the activities of illegal users of frequency spectrum were becoming worrisome to government , stressing that measures were being implored to ensure that the manage was curtailed.
He added as part of this year’s Radio Monitoring week, officials of the ministry were in kano for three days on a roadshow aimed at sensitizing effects of selling unlicensed radio frequency.
