A devastating incident occurred in Gargajiga town, Minjibir Local Government Area, when a well collapse claimed the life of a 50-year-old man, Yusuf Nadabo.
The tragic event happened while the victim was re-digging the well.
According to Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, spokesman of the State Fire Service, the agency received an emergency call from Bashir Namadi, reporting the well collapse.
The fire service’s rescue team was promptly dispatched to the scene, where they successfully rescued two people alive.
Unfortunately, Yusuf Nadabo was rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead. The victims were handed over to the ward head of Gargajiga town.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety precautions when engaging in potentially hazardous activities like well digging.
The community is in mourning, and condolences are pouring in for the family of the deceased.
An investigation into the incident is expected to determine the cause of the well collapse and identify measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
