Kano Government Reaffirms Commitment to Livestock and Modern Agriculture Development

The Kano State Government has reiterated its determination to improve livestock production and promote modern agricultural practices across the state.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmud, made this known during a two-day workshop for agricultural workers held at Kadawa in Garun Malam Local Government Area.

Dr. Danjuma Mahmud , represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Dr Bashir Sunusi said the workshop was designed to equip agricultural extension workers with modern techniques aimed at boosting livestock production and enhancing crop yields.

He said extension workers will undergo intensive training in livestock insemination to enable the breeding of species capable of producing higher quantities of milk and meat for human consumption.

He emphasized that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had recently recruited hundreds of agricultural extension workers as part of its strategy to revolutionize the agricultural sector and ensure food security in the state.

In his remarks, an agricultural expert, Malam Gambo Isa, noted that the training would significantly enhance the capacity of extension workers, who are expected to transfer the knowledge and skills acquired to farmers at the grassroots.

He urged participants to ensure that the benefits of the training are cascaded down to local farmers in order to achieve the set objectives.

Some of the participants at the workshop pledged to make effective use of the knowledge gained, particularly in improving both livestock and crop production.

The two-day training brought together participants from all the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
