The Kano state government has sealed two defaulting public Conveniences at Yan Kaba Motor Park, Nassarawa Local Government Area and gave Abatement notice to six others for failing to sanitize their premises.
The state commissioner for Environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso disclosed this after the completion of Xmas special sanitation exercise held in Kano.
Dr Kabiru Getso who also doubles as chairman Kano state task force committee on sanitation said the ministry visited fifteen(15) public conveniences, out of which two (2) were sealed, six (6) were given abatement notice while seven (7) were either partially of fully satisfied with their level of sanitation.
“This month’s Sanitation was tagged ‘special’ as it falls on 25th day of December, which coincided with Christmas Day celebration”.
“Out of 15 public conveniences supervised by the Committee at ‘Yankaba Park, seven (7) were found to be operating under hygienic condition”, they were commended and urged all the people conducting their businesses at the park to double their efforts in making the place as clean as possible”.
The Committee also visited the Wakilin Kudu Dumpsite and that of Jarkasa Primary School, behind the Emir’s Palace.
“Concerning the two (2) dumpsites visited by the Committee, we have appreciated the evacuation efforts put in place where all refuse dumped at the two (2) sites were evacuated completely”.
“This month’s exercise was carried out jointly by the Ministry of Environment and the Kano State Tipper Drivers Association.
