The Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), in collaboration with a joint security taskforce, has commenced strict enforcement of the state government’s ban on commercial motorcycle operations, popularly known as Achaba, within Kano metropolis.
The enforcement followed an announcement by the Ministry of Information citing security concerns linked to the resurgence of Achaba activities in parts of the city.
Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, said the agency and security operatives have already begun monitoring and patrol operations in strategic locations where the banned operators are said to have resurfaced. He warned riders to desist from violating the order or face full legal consequences.
Kabir urged KAROTA personnel to intensify efforts to ensure full compliance, noting that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
