The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, has taken the campaign against drug abuse to the traditional institution with a courtesy visit to the Emir of Rano, Amb. Dr. Muhammad Isa Umar (Autan Bawo).
The visit, which took place at the Rano Emir’s Palace on December 31, 2025, was described by the commander as a familiarization and appreciation engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration in the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
CN Lawal commended the Emir and the Rano Emirate for their consistent support to NDLEA operations, noting that traditional rulers remain key partners in mobilising communities and promoting a drug-free society, especially at the grassroots.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano Strategic Command to intensify community-based sensitization, enforcement and intelligence-driven operations to curb the menace of drug abuse across the state.
In his response, the Emir of Rano congratulated CN DY Lawal on his appointment and assured him of the Emirate’s continued support, while urging the NDLEA to sustain innovative awareness programmes that will further engage youths and local communities.
The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a plaque to the Emir in recognition of his unwavering support for NDLEA’s mandate and the collective fight against drug abuse in Kano State.
