The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has been described as a critical partner in community development, particularly in advancing social welfare and empowering vulnerable groups in society.
This assertion was made by a renowned Kano-based businessman, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Dangaske, when he received a delegation of NAWOJ members during a courtesy visit in Kano.
Alhaji Dangaske expressed appreciation to the association for the visit, describing women journalists as the backbone of societal development due to their role in information dissemination, advocacy and social mobilization. He commended NAWOJ for its consistent efforts in promoting positive change and pledged his continued support to ensure the growth and effectiveness of the association.
The businessman assured the delegation of his willingness to support NAWOJ’s programmes, especially those targeted at humanitarian and community-based initiatives, in order to contribute meaningfully to societal progress.
Alhaji Dangaske is widely known for his philanthropic activities, particularly in the area of youth education and religious services. He has sponsored the education of many young people and has also facilitated the pilgrimage of numerous Muslims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah as part of his commitment to serving Islam and the Muslim community.
Earlier, while speaking on behalf of the association, the National Secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Wasila Ibrahim Ladan, said the visit was aimed at seeking prayers and moral support, as well as formally briefing Alhaji Dangaske on the activities of the association at both national and state levels. She also noted that the delegation used the opportunity to solicit support for NAWOJ’s humanitarian programmes targeted at women, the less privileged, orphans and persons with special needs.
Comrade Wasila described Alhaji Dangaske as a distinguished businessman and a devoted lover of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), who has consistently served Islam and the Muslim ummah. She called on wealthy individuals in Kano State to emulate his generosity and commitment to community service.
She further praised him for his sustained philanthropic efforts and prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, blessings and increase in his capacity to support the less privileged and contribute to societal development.
