
The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBIAS) has organised a two-day in-house orientation programme aimed at strengthening budget preparation processes and enhancing financial planning and budgeting skills among its staff.
The training, which held from January 15 to 16, 2026, took place at Quarterhouse Hotel, No. 2 Ogbadu Road, off Rabah Road, Malali GRA, Kaduna, and commenced daily at 9:00 a.m.
Declaring the programme open, the Registrar of the Board, Professor Yahuza Suleiman Imam, who was represented by the Senior Assistant (Administration), Malam Dalhatu Zubairu, thanked the minister for education Dr. Maaruf Tunji Alausa and state Minister for education Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad for their sterling leadership in coordinating the ministry of education, he further described the orientation as timely and strategic.
Prof. Imam equally noted that the exercise was designed to promote financial discipline, transparency and accountability in the management of public resources, he thanked the Director of Finance for coordinating such an important workshop
According to him, effective budgeting and sound financial planning are critical to achieving the Board’s mandate and ensuring improved service delivery.
During his speech, the Director Administration and Human Resources Management Dr. Abdulrasheed Salman urged participants to take full advantage of the training by actively engaging with the resource persons and applying the knowledge gained to their daily responsibilities.
In his remarks, the Director of Finance, Alh. Abdulhameed Mohammed FCNA,ACTI, explained that the orientation was targeted at equipping staff of the Finance Department with modern skills and best practices in prudent financial management.
He emphasized that proper budget preparation and implementation would help the Board optimise available resources and align expenditures with institutional priorities.
Alhaji Mohammed added that the training would also enhance staff capacity in forecasting, monitoring and evaluating budget performance, thereby reducing waste and improving efficiency.

The two-day programme featured interactive sessions, presentations and practical discussions on budgeting frameworks, financial planning tools and public sector financial management, with participants expressing optimism that the orientation would positively impact the Board’s financial operations.
Certificates of attendance were issued to the participants at the end of the workshop.
