The Kano State Police Command has announced the suspension of the annual Tashe traditional performance usually held during the holy month of Ramadan, citing security concerns.
In a public announcement issued by Command said the decision was taken in liaison with the Kano State Government as part of efforts to safeguard lives and property during the fasting period.
The Police explained that the suspension was necessary to prevent criminals from exploiting the event to perpetrate crimes such as thuggery, handset snatching and drug abuse.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, urged parents, guardians and members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by cautioning their children and wards against engaging in acts capable of breaching law and order.
He warned that anyone found violating the law would face the full weight of legal consequences.
The Command stated that adequate security measures have been put in place to address criminal activities and ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Ramadan across the state.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
